Described by Qantas as “the ultimate long-range aircraft”, the Australian carrier’s future fleet of A350-1000s heralds an exciting new era of non-stop commercial aviation, directly connecting the east coast of Australia to London and New York. Due to enter service in mid-2026, the aircraft will shave as much as four hours off current one-stop journey times on the same routes. Named “Project Sunrise”, in a nod to the airline’s long history of endurance flying, Qantas has set out to create a sense of informal elegance on board, while ensuring the ultimate in comfort on what will be the longest flights in the world.

Working in partnership with Qantas and Australian industrial design studio, Caon Design, rohi is providing exclusive seat fabrics made of the finest virgin wool, for both first and business class. David Caon’s design language is in line with understated luxury, clean simplicity and the use of natural materials create a calming and elegant interior. The suites’ overall aesthetics is refined, not opulent, and rohi’s customized textile designs perfectly fit within this style concept.

Inspired by the most luxurious boutique hotels, the first-class cabin features rohi’s classic OPERA. Marrying a high-volume structure with a distinctive honeycomb look, this exquisite fabric gives a sense of hidden depth and absolute comfort, through the delicate contrasting of textures and the subtle interplay of luxurious cream-coloured finishes.

The sophisticated design concept continues in the new Qantas Business Suite. Finished in rohi’s BEAUCOUP fabric, a Bauhaus-inspired structure, that creates a surface that is cool to the touch, featuring a smart cream and grey palette.
